Jane Burridge BArch Dip Arch ARIAS RIBA
After qualifying as an architect in London in 1990 Jane worked for Michael Hopkins & Partners on IBM’s headquarters at Bedfont Lakes and as project architect for the Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. She then joined leading low energy experts Bennetts Associates and in 1995 set up their Edinburgh office. Working on pioneering headquarter buildings for BT and John Menzies Jane gained a particular understanding of the complexities of the modern workplace. Later projects including the City Inn Hotel, Westminster, the Centre for Health Science, Inverness and the competition stage of the Potterow Project for Edinburgh University extended her knowledge of the commercial office into education, public and health buildings. After 11 years with the "e;2005 Architects of the Year"e; and having become an Associate Director, she joined her husband's award winning practice in 2006 to form a+j burridge architects. Jane's expertise is in strategic analysis and planning, liasing closely with clients to formulate briefs and achieve the aspirations of user groups. Regardless of the projects function or scale she believes it is fundamental to gain a full understanding of the scope of a project at the outset, consult all stakeholders and work coherently as a team.
Outside her architectural practice Jane Burridge has been a Civic Trust Awards Assessor since 2001. She is also a passionate campaigner for 'knowledge transfer' and has been mentoring in the Construction Industry since 2008 through the government funded JIVE mentoring programme.
